No, this isn’t turning into a VW site!
FAST is Nissan’s parts program. You can use it to look up part numbers, cross reference part numbers (To see if you can pull a part from another vehicle), and much more.
I was able to get the files I was missing from my previous FAST installation (the old ones were corrupt). I uploaded all of the FAST discs (in RAR format) to this server for download. Most of the discs cover USDM as well as JDM vehicles. I also complied a short document on how to install FAST. The “Nissan FAST” link under Pages will brings youto the section of the site with all of the files.

As I was backing my Xterra into a parking space in front of my Sentra, I noticed something sitting on top of the car cover on the Sentra. I grew angry as thoughts of the neighborhood punks putting stuff on my car flashed through my mind. Once I got out I discovered that my car cover had several small and large holes in it. If someone was out to damage my car they had very sharp and tiny claws. My Mom told me that there was a large group of crows in the area, so I can only assume they did this.
I had purchased “The Max” car cover (by Budge) to replace the thin Nissan one. As I went to put it on tonight, I became very displeased. The cover is one of those one size fits many type deals. I got it on the car saw how it fit, and then discovered that it had not provisions for a cover lock. The torn Nissan cover went back on, and I quickly put in a request to return this cover. After a quick call to California Car Covers to confirm that their covers really are custom and that they had provisions for a car lock, my decision was made.
This blows my “purchasing schedule. I had planned to buy the parts needed for my wheel bearing project next week, but that will have to be pushed back a few weeks. More updates to come.

I recently upgraded the hosting account that runs this site. Right now this is a step in the direction of offering more “services” to people with SR powered cars. Soon there will be a public gallery which will allow people to register and gain 100 MB of space to store their pictures. Before that is rolled out I want to make sure that everything goes smoothly with the hosting upgrade. The new server will be running some slightly different software which should speed things up but it may also require some modifications on my part. Eventually I will fire up Photoshop and create a better design for this place.
Keep an eye on the links on the right for more features!

Today I had planned to lengthen the wires on the B14 wiring harness that I had to cut short and possible start to label them. After a late night, I woke up late and never made it out to get a new pair of wire strippers. Today wasn’t totally useless though.
I started to plan out my wheel bearing replacement project. I know at least one of my front wheel bearings needs to be replaced. My plan is going to be to replace both of the bearings as well as the hubs. It will cost a bit more money to do it this way, but it will give me peace of mind and if the hubs end up being in good condition I can sell them. Ordering those parts might be on hold for another few weeks since I spent more then I had planned on the turbo stuff last week.

Not really woes…
After work this morning I spent about three hours playing around with the parts that I had. First I disassembled the 1998 intake manifold. By doing this I discovered that the extra emissions equipment & ports on the ‘98 manifold really is going to complicate things. So my quest for either a 1995-1997 or a JDM intake manifold continues.
I then spent some time trying to sort out the wiring harness. I mentioned before that I got a good deal on the harness, and the reason for this was apparent when I received it the other day. Many of the wires were already spliced, and the wiring near the ECU connector was a rats nest. Trying it vein to untangle things, I soon switched to “cut” mode. I was able to salage a good amount of most of the wires. Some are too short and will have to have either additional wire spliced to them or they will be re-pinned. Either way it looks like I will be brushing up on my wiring skills (Which is a good excuse to buy a new set of wire strippers/crimpers).
When I was all done I went inside, and this is what was waiting for me:

Initially I purchased an intake manifold from a 1998 Sentra. It was a good deal since it had most of the sensors that I needed as well as the throttle body. The only problem is that the 1998+ Sentras (With SR20DEs have a hole bunch of extra ports for various emissions equipment. My plan was to cap off and weld shut the stuff I would not need.
After doing a bit more research on this, it seems that this would be a bit more work and money then it might be worth. Now I am looking for a JDM intake manifold that does not have any of the emissions stuff. Hopefully I will be able to mix and match the parts from the 1998 intake manifold and get everything I need. I’m hoping to close the deal on the manifold I was offered this weekend or early next week.
I think I’m getting sick again (Thanks to someone in the office coming into work instead of taking a sick day or two). On top of that I have to got to work early tomorrow morning for some tests. I’m not sure if I will get any work or pictures of my parts up this weekend, but I will try. On the plus side the ECU, wiring harness, and turbo should be here next week!

I meant to post a link to my Gallery yesterday, but I forgot. Here is the link. There you can see pictures of my Sentra and Xterra. There are many pictures of previous modifications on done to the Sentra. If you browse around you’ll find many more Nissan related pictures.
Parts continue to arrive on a daily basis for both my turbo and restoration projects on the Sentra. My bedroom is starting to look like either a Sentra chop shop or a junkyard! I’m hpoing to have the JWT ECU, 1996 SE-R wiring harness, GT28RS turbo, and my GTi-R O2 housing some time next week. This weekend, I am going to play around with the ‘98 Intake manifold. I want to see what is what, label everything and then disassemble everything.
I’ll try to take some pictures this weekend.
Chris' 2000 Sentra SE, Restoration Project, Turbo Project
My 2000 Sentra SE was purchased in July of 2002. I am the second owner and have only put about 50,000 miles on the car, despite the fact that it was my daily driver for six years. Mostly bolt-on modifications were performed to the engine and suspension (with the exception of JWT S3R cams).
In July of 2007 I purchased my Xterra which took over daily driver duties from my Sentra. My inital goal was to restore my Sentra to the condition I wanted it in. This included addressing mostly body issues (Re-clear the hood, body side molding, window trim, etc). At this point I had already been keeping a list of all of the parts I needed to turbo-charge my Sentra. In January of 2008, I finally started purchasing the parts needed to start the turbo project.
So, this blog will document both my restoration and turbo projects. Enjoy reading the content, and if you have anything to say or add, feel free to post a comment or send me an email (chris@srpowered.net).
